Griggs Memorial Baptist Church is a church that has your back.
Having someone's back is something that our minds can easily connect with. This is true because we can attach the idea to a person. We have a clear image in our mind of a person who has our back, or we have theirs. Or maybe we know there is a void for a person like that in our lives. We crave someone who will have our back no matter what happens; someone who will support us and be there for us in best and the worst times.
So, what does this look like in a church context? And more specifically what does it look like at Griggs? The answer is relationships. Number one; we want your relationship with Jesus to be stronger. Number 2; we want to develop deep relationships with the people in our church.
Jesus has your back.
Jesus was sent from the Father to earth because he longs for a relationship with you. Coming to earth was an act of love and humility for you. He became a man to save all mankind. He was sent to make a relationship with you as sons and daughters. He was sent to be your friend. In John 5:12-15 Jesus says, “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” The greatest act of friendship was Jesus laying down his life for you. He suffered greatly just for a relationship. He sacrificed himself to build a relationship, be your friend, and to be there for you in the good and the bad.
Griggs has your back.
If you visit our church, we are going to seek to start a relationship with you. When you come to Griggs, you will not find a flashy Sunday morning worship service. You will not find a perfectly executed order of events. You will not find the perfect worship team. You will not find a perfect pastoral staff. Though we crave excellent acts of worship for our King, we also understand we are a flawed, struggling group of people trying to worship a perfect Savior. So, what you will find is a diverse group of believers from all stages in their walk with Jesus. Some brand-new believers, others are mature and seeking to build up the rest of the body. We love and embrace this! The big idea is that we are all working together to be there for you. No matter what.
We want a relationship with you.
We will rejoice with you in times of rejoicing. We will mourn with you in times of sadness. We will pray for you in times that you need prayer. We want to be the local gathering where you are growing in your relationship with Jesus, and we want to be the local gathering where you find your best friends who are always there for you.
So, check us out! We would love to see you and together we can #GrowWithGriggs.
