Purpose

The role of a Griggs Group Co-Leader exists to foster leadership development within our church. Co-leading provides a clear pathway for future Griggs Group leaders to be introduced to and trained in group leadership. This role directly supports our overall mission: making disciples who transform our neighborhood with the gospel of Jesus.

Role Overview

• Each Griggs Group Leader should select a Co-Leader each year (or  every two years, depending on group size and needs).

• On some Wednesdays, the Co-Leader’s role may feel very similar to that of any other group member.

• At other times, the Co-Leader will be asked to lead the group discussion—either alongside the Leader or in their absence.

• Leaders and Co-Leaders will meet one-on-one a few times each season to discuss group dynamics, challenges, and opportunities.

• Co-Leaders are encouraged to give input into the direction of the group and to personally connect with individual members.

• Co-Leaders are invited to all Griggs Group Leader training sessions to sharpen their skills and grow in leadership.

• The ultimate goal is to raise up more Griggs Group Leaders so our ministry can expand as new people join and new groups form.

Core Responsibilities

1. Support the Group Leader

The Co-Leader serves as an extra set of eyes and ears during group gatherings—offering insight, encouragement, and perspective. They function as a trusted partner for the Leader to brainstorm ideas and address group needs.

2. Lead Some Group Discussions

Co-Leaders will periodically facilitate group discussions to gain practical, hands-on experience. This may occur while the Group Leader is present or when the Leader is away. The timing and frequency will be determined by mutual agreement between the Leader and Co-Leader.

3. Engage with Group Members

As leaders-in-training, Co-Leaders are encouraged to initiate and continue relationships with group members. This may involve one-on-one meetups, intentional follow-up conversations, or sending encouraging texts during the week.
